Help Heather tell cancer to take a hike!

Donation protected
Welp, it’s official. Heather won the lottery that no one wants to win: The breast cancer lottery.

Everyone is as shocked as you are. The news has hit hard. Like a brick. And very unexpectedly.

With no family history of breast cancer and no symptoms, she went in for the first recommended screening expecting a hearty, “Looks good. See you for the next one!” from her doctor. Maybe they’d even give her a lollipop for being such a good patient.

But, instead, she’s had the pleasure of multiple biopsies, tons of overwhelming information, and some difficult decisions to make. All in about one week. Thrilling!

The news is still fresh and there aren’t any definitive answers. What we do know is… it was caught early, and there are treatment options with lots of reasons to be optimistic. She’s a strong woman with tons of support around her. Jason is right there by her side every step of the way.

But, even with that support, the financial strain of this unexpected news will only add to the stress. They need to focus on treatment and recovery--not money.

It’s too early to tell what exactly insurance will cover (thankfully she is insured). But, there are sure to be other things like time away from work for both her and Jason, travel to and from appointments and treatments, and deductibles to meet before coverage kicks in.

So, we are humbly asking for support if you have it in you to give.

Jason and Heather have been together for many years, but they just started their life as a married couple back in March. They don’t live extravagantly. They work hard every day. They show up for the people that need them. They bring light to our lives with their unique humor and resilience in the face of adversity. And while the last few years have been tough on everyone, they seem to keep getting extra obstacles thrown in their way as they work to build their future together. Blow after blow, they get back up and move forward, but it has been very challenging to say the least. Let's help them avoid another financial setback.

Many people say, “Let me know how I can help.” and help comes in many forms. Helping to build a financial cushion and sense of stability through this time will offer them a lot of peace of mind. Any amount helps. But, if you can’t offer that, know that your prayers and words of kindness mean the world to them and their families. Feel free to share them here or send them something directly via snail mail.

We’ll try to keep this page updated with any news as things progress.

Thank you for reading and considering helping out. We all wish many blessings to you and your loved ones through the holidays and beyond. <3
