Help Hector Salgado's Family Pay Funeral Expenses

Donation protected

Hector Salgado was tragically killed in a car accident in Brigantine, N.J., two weeks ago. Hector was 54-years-old at the time of his death and was running a painting business with his brother, Gustavo.

The eldest of six children, Hector was born in Honduras and came to the U.S. about three decades ago. For a while he worked delivering phone directories throughout the U.S. As his brother said, Hector started to understand that no one was using phone books anymore, so we decided to go in together as painters. Hector and Gustavo had recently wrapped up a painting job in Brigantine. But after the job was done Hector realized he forgot one of his ladders at the home they had painted. So he returned to Brigantine simply to fetch his ladder — only to be mowed down while loading his van.

Hector lived in Lindenwold, N.J., with his extended family and it was his wish that he be buried in a family plot in California. Gustavo and his family don’t have the resources to pay for the funeral expenses that they are facing both here in New Jersey and in California. They have received a $5,000 bill from the funeral home that’s planning to transport Hector’s body to California and so far have only been able to pay $500. They expect further expenses and would like to travel to attend Hector’s burial. At present, that will be impossible without financial assistance.

Please consider giving anything that you can to the Salgado family.
