Help Heidi Fuhr get her Exosym orthotic

If you are viewing this campaign, you or someone you know have most likely been helped by Heidi Fuhr.

She has been a licensed massage therapist since 2006 and a physical therapist assistant since 2013. She is a loving and caring sister, aunt, and daughter and currently the primary caregiver and support person to her mother, Beth.

On a personal note, Heid is the person who has been by my side and holding me up without judgment every time I have needed support in my life.

After multiple repeated ankle sprains over years of sports, running, cycling and athletics, Heidi also fractured her ankle in the early 90s. She has since had bone and tendon grafts, followed by synthetic mesh repair and then further ankle and tendon surgeries. Each time she worked hard to recover function and return to a very active life, especially hiking, running, swimming, and paddling with her family, friends and rescued dogs. She is now in constant pain with limited mobility and can no longer do the simple things that bring her the most joy.

She has heroically worked through her pain while providing care for others, some even suffering similar injuries.

Sadly, Heidi has been turned down for ankle replacement surgery twice due to the extent of degeneration and lack of integrity in her leg. The options her doctors have given her now would lead to lifelong pain, lack of mobility, and likely even amputation.

Enter Hanger Clinic and Ryan Blanck’s Exosym technology. The Exosym is an orthotic brace that will allow Heidi to retain and improve mobility and potentially take away the pain she has been living with for years. She may even be able to run again.

Here is where we come in… The treatments, training and device are not covered by insurance. The Exosym can only be fitted in their clinic in Washington state, and Heidi will need to make several trips paying for airfare and accommodations while missing time at work and will need to arrange care for her mom and dogs while she seeks much-needed care for herself.

Please help me help Heidi stay mobile, reduce her pain, and continue her path of providing such amazing care to others without going into debilitating debt.

Please view updates for more information on the Exosym and for updates on Heidi’s journey.
