Help Heidi with Medical Expenses

Thank you to everyone who have already donated and shared this fundraising page with family and friends.  This is the official Go Fund Me page for Heidi (Jewell) Blance.  Heidi is a native to Cheboygan, Michigan and enjoys spending time with her friends and family, faithful pets and riding her motorcycle.  Heidi’s co-workers at Link Industries say she is dedicated and a hard worker.  Giving up is simply not in Heidi’s vocabulary.

Heidi was born with a hole in her heart and Shone’s syndrome, also known as Shone’s complex, or Shone’s anomaly.  Shone’s syndrome is a rare form of congenital heart disease.  Later as a teen, Heidi was diagnosed to also have Supraventricular Tachycardia (SVT), otherwise known as an abnormally fast heart rhythm.  After many years of blood tests, CT scans, MRI’s, EKG’s, and countless Emergency Room visits Heidi was fed up.

Heidi asked friends and co-workers for advice.  Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN was a suggested option and soon arrangements were made for her to meet with a team of doctors.  Heidi spent a week at Mayo Clinic undergoing a series of tests which included a heart catheter.  A list of problems was identified, and a treatment plan was outlined. 

Now back home, Heidi is preparing for her return to Mayo Clinic in May or June.  First, she must take medication to prepare her heart and lungs for open heart surgery.  Heidi wears a heart monitor and communicates with the Mayo Team daily.  This surgery is dangerous, and recovery will be a long road, but Heidi is prepared to trust in the Mayo Team.   Heidi is very brave.
