Help Henry Clean Up Athens, Ohio
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Henry, and I spend much of my time hiking in and around Athens, Ohio. The primary reason for my adventures is usually to find edible and medicinal mushrooms, but I frequently deviate from the hunt to collect garbage that is polluting our local eco systems. Walking down some of the roads in Athens, such as Luhrig Road, I found it difficult to walk more than 200 feet without completely filling a garbage bag. I am deeply troubled by the apathy of those who litter, and by the effect that it has on the local environment. I have spent time at Strouds Run State Park, gathering massive amounts of trash I have seen and collected things such as used diapers, broken glass and discarded cans, plastic bags that degrade into harmful microplastics, automotive liquids, and many other strange things. I will continue to collect garbage and keep it out of our beautiful land, whether or not I receive any funding. However, if I do receive funding, I will spend a much greater amount of time doing so, and bringing others along with me. I am in a financially difficult time, as many are, and I can not afford to spend my time doing anything that does not pay the bills, as unfortunate as that is. I am not yet asking for handouts, and I hope that you will see how important this service is to our community. I will document and share my trash gatherings and provide updates when necessary. Please share this with anyone who you think would appreciate it.
