Help Hill Heat leave Substack

My newsletter, Hill Heat, offers a mix of news round-ups and deep analysis on American climate politics. Subscribers get our unique perspective on the inner workings of federal climate politics and their connection to the real world. Importantly, unlike other DC-oriented energy and climate newsletters, Hill Heat is not “presented by” corporate polluters — we are financed only by our subscribers.
Unfortunately, a big part of the real world is the rising power of eco-fascism, an ideological movement that ties traditional white nationalism with climate denial and a violent embrace of the fossil-fuel industry.
Right now, Hill Heat is published using the Substack platform. As recently uncovered, Substack hosts and supports Nazis and white nationalists, helping them not only to disseminate violent racial ideology but also to profit from it. (They do the same for "mainstream" climate deniers as well.) When this basic failure of content moderation was brought to the leadership's attention, they not only dismissed the concerns, but celebrated themselves, saying that they're just doing their part to help people "engage with and understand a range of views."
I'm committed to moving Hill Heat to a publisher that doesn't protect Nazis, but there are significant costs in doing so. And I'd like to ask you to subscribe without a cut of your money going to Substack. So please contribute to this GoFundMe.
Annual paid subscriptions to Hill Heat normally cost $10/month or $100/year. For $50, I'll credit you with a 6-month paid subscription; for a $75 contribution here, I'll credit you with a full annual subscription.
