Help Home The Hangry Haggis
Hi, I'm Ewen and I'm the owner and chef of The Hangry Haggis. If you're not familiar with us, I was based in Central Avenue, Jersey City, sharing a space with a cafe. The cuisine I prepare is British but specifically Scottish. The number one dish being our authentic Fish and Chips. In addition to the prepared food, I also stocked British groceries such as Cadbury chocolate, McVitie's biscuits (cookies), and Scotland's famous soda Irn-Bru.
Although I was paying half the rent for the premises, my hours there were limited to only a few each evening. Business was great though and revenue each month was better than the previous month. With very limited hours versus a high rent in relation to the hours, staying at the cafe was never going to be viable long term and though the revenue was improving, the overheads and time weren't turning much of a profit to allow for scaling up the business.
However, the business has taken a dramatic hit in the past week, and it's now without a home. We have lost a significant amount of potential revenue, I am owed past revenue to us by the cafe, and lost several hundreds of dollars in product that was bought last week but has spoiled. I also had to let go my two part-time assistants.
I am looking at a new premises in The Heights that will allow us to be independent and therefore expand my menu, extend the availability and offer a lot more imported British groceries.
The fund raising goal is a little high but it will allow me to get up and running very quickly. Buying in stock and equipment.
Every penny helps and is appreciated.
Thank you,
