Help Re-Open HomeGrown!

Update:
Miki and the HomeGrown team want to say THANK YOU for all the love and for supporting our fundraiser to help re-open Homegrown. Miki is blown away by the generosity thus far and so very grateful that so many of you want to see us make it to the other side of this disaster. Unfortunately, we are not out of the woods yet. Our ability to re-open at full capacity cannot happen until we have clean potable water running through our pipes. At the moment, we are unsure of when that will take place.
If you love HomeGrown, Miki, the staff, or even if you just love our fried chicken...Please consider donating to help us cover expenses while we wait for clean water to return. And if you can't donate..please share this post, but make sure to tell your family and friends why it's so important for us to remain a part of this community. We embody local food and supporting local businesses. We love the planet and compost everything we can to limit our impact on the environment. Maybe your first date was at HomeGrown and now you spend every anniversary with us..whatever your reason is, it's important to let people know why you love this place so much. We don't want to see this journey come to end. We survived Covid, but without your help we may not survive Helene. Please help us reach our goal.
Much Love and Appreciation to all of you...Brianna

My name is Brianna Nicol and I’ve been an employee with HomeGrown for over 8 years. Some of you may have met me in the restaurant and some of you I may have helped plan your wedding or special event. Like so many other beloved restaurants in our community we have been without potable water for weeks. The loss of income from not only our restaurant but also from the catering side of our business has greatly affected our ability to to re-open without some help from our friends!

If you are not familiar with HomeGrown…our ethos was built around community and supporting local farmers and other businesses. We aimed to take that produce that nobody wanted at market and purchase it for less (or sometimes even a trade for one of our famous fried chicken sammies) and turn it into a delicious side that we could sell at an affordable price to our customers. It had also been a primary goal to be able to support local area nonprofits in our community. Believing that a large measure of a business’s success is the positive contribution it makes in the surrounding community.

Since the storm hit, we have cooked off the rest of our inventory and donated that food to our local fire department, employees and other organizations. As well as sending hot meals into harder hit areas like downtown Marshall. Because we didn’t “lose” our food, we won’t receive an insurance payout. We have not received any form of financial aid at this point. And with no income coming in for the past 3 weeks and bills starting to pile up we are at a bit of a standstill.

The money raised in this fundraiser will go towards buying food so we can re-open our doors and get back to serving up our amazing fried chicken and local veggies to y’all. It is also very important that we keep sending hot meals out to people that need them. Every contribution made will help us do that, as well as allowing us to continue supporting our local farmers, economy and communities. And...feeding y’all chicken sammies.

We know so many are hurting financially but any small amount will help. If you are unable to contribute monetarily, please share this post with your family and friends and let them know why it’s important for us to remain a fixture here in Asheville.

We look forward to getting our doors re-open so we can see you all again! Our love to each and every one of you.
WNC Strong! We can survive if we support each other!
Much Love!
