Help Homeless People of Abbotsford This Winter
Donation protected
Hi! My name is Alexis and I am 16 years old and live in British Columbia, Canada. The winters here are bitter and cold with unrelenting rain and sleet. Every winter you can observe homeless people huddled against store doorframes at night wrapped in a few damp blankets and plastic garbage bags. The lucky ones may have thin summer tents that the cold wind can easily penetrate. In my city, there are 330 homeless people and are thought to be more, however with COVID-19, even with a new emergency shelter in place there are only 160 beds between all the shelters. As a result many homeless people are not able to get access to shelters in order to keep warm. Hypothermia is a real risk for these people on a daily basis, and in a interview conducted in my city many homeless people told the reporters that they were genuinely afraid of dying in the night, or getting sick, something they simply can not afford. Hearing this makes it impossible for me to stand by and do nothing, so I have decided to purchase 50 emergency first aid blankets and 50 emergency reflective tents capable of containing 90% of the occupants body temperature which I will distribute in my city. These items can save lives and provide extra comfort and security during the long winter months. I implore those who read this to take the time to donate a little. Thank you for your kindness. It is people like you who can help change the world.
