Help Homeless This FREEZING Northern UT Winter
Donation protected
My name is Heather, & it’s been a pretty rough road to get where I am. There were many days that I couldn’t imagine it ever being worth it to just keep going. I’m MORE than happy to say that I have more than I ever dreamt of. My husband is EVERYTHING someone would say they desire in a partner & best friend. After we finally found one another and fell in love, we helped each other to rapidly rebuild our broken lives together. He had been told by a doctor that he couldn’t have kids, & My lifelong dream was to be a mother. Accepting his proposal meant giving up my dream, but he was worth it. About a month after accepting his proposal we found out I was pregnant with our PERFECT little boy, Oscar.
My passion for Homeless outreach comes from several places, & since settling down in my husband’s hometown in Northern Utah my desire to help has become overwhelming. My husband was also homeless here for several years, & his stories would make you weep.
This Winter, Northern Utah is facing quite a crisis. The number of individuals without housing has greatly increased in the past 2 years. Unfortunately, the shelters (which are no picnic, especially for women) are overflowing, and nearly 3,600 individuals are sleeping outside on a single night.
Average winter temperatures here are high of 39 degrees & low of 27. 60% of homeless people suffer from mental illness, and 1/4 of the homeless population are children. When I think of any of these people being at risk of freezing to death because they’re sleeping under a blanket of snow it makes me weep. I would be morally remiss if I did nothing, especially now that I have more than I ever thought Possible for me.
In 2016 I spent an entire year doing homeless outreach in Humboldt county California. I let my heart and my instincts guide me toward individuals that had needs that I could meet with what little I had. After one-on-one interactions with people in need, magical moments are created & personal needs are met.
If you find it in your heart to donate, 100% of the funds will go toward Supplies to keep many little families warm, clean, dry, fed, etc. My husband and I will be making personal connections, sharing our stories, and giving back in very personalized ways.
Thank You in advance, & I promise to fulfill the warmth you feel in your heart after donating!
