Help Homeward Bound WV with Surgery Funds

Tax deductible
Homeward Bound WV is in need of help with funding for surgeries for one of our rescue cats!

Chewie came to the rescue at just a few months old. He was rescued from a feral colony living behind a local grocery store in Morgantown. His foster mom immediately started to socialize him so he could get his vetting and be adopted to his forever home. However, it wasn't long before his foster mom noticed a strange leg shaking he would do while walking. He would walk a few steps and then shake off his back leg, which she thought was odd since there wasn't anything visibly wrong with his leg.

Upon a vet evaluation, Chewie was diagnosed with a medial luxating patella (floating kneecap) causing him pain and discomfort. The veterinarian suggested his condition was more than likely congenital and that he required surgery to help him walk pain-free.

And if that wasn't enough, while he was awaiting knee surgery, Chewie began to develop a red growth on his eye. This spot formed to protect the eye from a herpes infection which can be quite common in cats. His eye was treated with steroid drops to see if it would heal on its own but after a few weeks, it was decided his eye would also require surgery. The remainder of the growth was shaved off while he was under anesthetic during his knee operation.

Following the double surgeries completed for Chewie, he has been recovering well in his foster home but the rescue has added an extensive vet bill for treatment, surgery, and follow-up care and we could use your help.

Please, we are in need of donations to help with medical bills for Chewie. Without the community's support, we wouldn't be able to help animals like him and continue our mission to help animals in need. There's no amount too small--we're so very grateful for any donations we might receive! 100% of your tax-deductible donations go directly to the care of our animals.

Help us get the word out. If you are unable to donate, please help by simply sharing Chewie's story.

THANK YOU to our amazing donors and supporters! We couldn't do this without you!
