Help Honey Overcome Rare Digestive Condition

Donation protected
My name is Sarah, and I am a proud dog mom to a beautiful almost 4-year-old pit/lab mix named Honey. I had the unique opportunity to choose her the day she was born, and she has been my pride and joy ever since. From the moment I laid eyes on her, I knew she was something special, though I never realized just how unique and strong she truly is.
Since February of 2023, Honey has been struggling with daily vomiting, often multiple times a day. Over the past two years, we’ve tried countless vet visits and treatments, including steroids, probiotics, and specialty meat diets— even one with kangaroo protein— but nothing has provided a long-term solution.
In December of 2024, Honey’s condition worsened dramatically. Her vomiting became uncontrollable, and we rushed her to the vet the weekend before Christmas. X-rays revealed a severely bloated stomach and rocks inside, prompting an emergency surgery to remove them. While she recovered physically, the vomiting didn’t stop.
In late February 2024, the vomiting escalated again. Another x-ray revealed bloating, but this time, no rocks were found. This raised a new question: what was causing the blockages? Further testing, including an ultrasound, revealed a rare condition— Honey has an abnormally narrow and kinked small intestine. This is an extremely rare condition in dogs, affecting only about 1 in a million. It’s likely a congenital issue that has worsened over time. Unfortunately, this means that, although she is eating, her body cannot properly digest food. Since February 2024, Honey has lost over 5 pounds, which is significant for a dog who is already underweight.
Her condition has caused various complications, including issues in her esophagus and small intestine. Just this week, Honey was officially diagnosed with Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), and we are currently exploring non-surgical treatment options like steroids, antibiotics, a prescription diet, and a liquid diet. However, Honey will eventually need an endoscopy and additional biopsies of her stomach and small intestine.
The financial burden of these vet visits has become overwhelming, and despite my best efforts to manage the costs, I simply cannot afford the additional treatments Honey needs. I’m still working to pay off the costs from past vet visits and am unable to cover the upcoming treatments at this time.
Honey and I are reaching out with full hearts to ask for your support. Every little bit helps and means so much to us. We humbly ask for your help in spreading the word, sharing our story, and donating whatever you can. Our goal is to cover the costs of the vet visits from December to April. Any additional funds raised will go directly toward the endoscopy and biopsies Honey will need.
Your kindness and support will make a huge difference in Honey’s life, and I am beyond grateful for anything you can offer. Thank you for taking the time to read our story, and for being part of our journey.
