Help Honor a Beloved Cowboy's Final Journey

Donation protected
Dear Friends, Family, and Kind Supporters,

On October 1st we said goodbye to the last real cowboy. We called him Daddy.
Now we need your help to make sure he gets his ride into the sunset.

First, we want to say that we never imagined we’d be in this position of asking for help. Mom and Dad planned for the future. They worked their entire lives, even extending their careers, to make sure they could live comfortably and enjoy the years ahead. But all of that changed in 2020.

Our beloved Daddy, Jon Gordon, fell seriously ill. What began as a bout of shingles turned into a series of health challenges he never fully recovered from. Oh man, did he fight hard. Daddy spent months in rehabilitation, determined to come back home to us. But with every step forward, there was a setback. He faced more sickness, and, tragically, he lost his leg due to an infection.

But through it all, Daddy never gave up. He longed to return home, to the place he has called home since the 80s. And a little over a month ago, he did just that. And on October 1st, Daddy met our Lord and found peace.

As we grapple with this tremendous loss, we face an additional hardship. Everything Mom and Dad had saved for their retirement was spent over the last four years on Daddy's care. And now, we find ourselves unable to afford the cost of his funeral. We've met with the funeral home, and even the most affordable option is more than we have.

We are humbly asking for your help to lay Daddy to rest.

A Few Things You Should Know About Daddy
Jon Gordon was a true cowboy, a man of the present day but with the spirit of the Old West. He didn’t have an enemy in the world and was most proud of the family he built with Mom. They were married for 59 years—a lifetime of love that speaks to the kind of man he was.

We will miss him beyond words—his funny one-liners, his tendency to drift off into stories during conversations, and most of all, his steady, loving presence in our lives.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for any support you can offer, we understand most of the world didn't know Jon, but he would have loved to know all of you!
Your kindness means the world to us in this time of grief.

With gratitude and love,
The Gordon Family
