Help Honor Frank Morgan with the Funeral He Deserves

Donation protected

Today we thought we were going to start planning Frank Morgan's Funeral and were stunned when we were told the two insurance policies he had for this purpose were empty.

It's all gone.

He was an organized and prudent saver throughout his entire life.
He knew that the nursing home would take his NYS pension and all his lifetime savings, so he was diligent about Life Insurance.

He had saved for many years so as not to burden his daughter. He had 2 life insurance policies for himself to be extra careful for over 40 years, never late or missing a payment - he made sure we knew about this for when the time came even when we didn't want to talk about it.

Today we discovered that due to dementia he inadvertently stopped paying them about 2 years ago. The cash value was absorbed by the insurance company as well. Although the facility that had been caring for him for almost 4 years knew about these policies, we were never notified that his insurance was at risk of lapsing from them or his insurer.

We went to the funeral home that our family has used for generations today, the same one where his wife Laila was laid to rest in 2010 - using the insurance Frank had purchased years ago for both of them providing her with a dignified and beautiful service. That is where we discovered this stunning news. We asked about payment plans and were turned away.

We have found a different location that said they would work with us however we are now in need of help - exactly what Frank would've never wanted to see happen. A 26 year loyal CSEA employee at Bedford Hills Correctional Facility. Anyone who knew Frank knew that he gave freely to anyone in need - that he never met a stranger - that he was a man who loved everyone and never asked for anything for himself. He was the epitome of selfless love.

Any contribution no matter how small can help us at this difficult time. We want to lay him to rest next to his beloved wife. We are heartbroken and this situation seems so profoundly unfair, yet I know if he was here he would tell us that "life never promises you fair". That we should smile and be grateful. That he would shrug and say "It's okay, amen brother!" Someone as special and as loved as he was deserves a dignified farewell.

Thank you all for your kindness and encouragement over the last 3 days. We appreciate it more than you could know.
