Help Honor Janet Hagen's Final Wishes
Donation protected
Update 2: We need approximately $600 more to get her cremation started and avoid further fees from accruing. Please share and please help if you can.
Update 1: As most of you know, Janet passed away on October 16th. Both of her boys were with her until the very end and held her hands as she took her last breath. It was and is truly devastating for them both but she always wanted them by her side and didn’t want to be alone in her last moments. Her boys are both strong, wonderful sons who just want to do the best they can for their mama. I was able to get more accurate pricing and have changed the fundraiser goal accordingly. We are almost there but we are running out of time before we will have to start paying extra costs. Please donate if you can. It really means the world to me but more importantly, it means the world to her boys. Thank you all.
Hello everyone and thank you for reading this. My name is Jennifer Johnston and I am Janet Hagen’s daughter in law.
In June of this year, Janet suffered a massive stroke and was admitted to the ICU. Anyone that knows Janet knows how stubborn and tough she is. She didn’t let that stroke kill her and she rallied. She fought to get better for months in a rehabilitation facility and was making some progress but the damage that had been done was just too great. She has always defeated everything thrown at her and has continued to surprise everyone with her strength. Recently she got pneumonia and became septic. She had to be taken to the emergency room as she had multi organ failure and was hypoxic. They got her stable and got her into the ICU. They suctioned her lungs and started her on antibiotics as well as a host of medications for pain and to stabilize her vitals.
She has expressed to James recently that she is ready to go be with her mamma. She would be so upset with us if we continue to allow the hospital to poke and prod at her and selfishly not let her go be with grandma and aunt Billie.
With heavy hearts, we have made the difficult decision to move Janet over to “comfort care” here at the hospital. On October 15th, the ICU staff took her off all medical interventions began administering medications that will allow her to be comfortable as she transitions. She was moved to a quiet room, no longer in the busy ICU. They don’t have a time frame of how long she will be with us but they don’t think it will be too long. Thank you all for the thoughts and prayers.
I started this fundraiser so we can take care of her the way she wanted us to. This has weighed heavily on James and Billy and I would really like to help them to be able to honor Janet’s wishes. It would mean the world to Janet to take some of the financial burden off of two very good sons who love their mama with all their hearts.
Anyone who prefers to do cash app can send it that way as well. The account is listed below or you can get in touch with me for a link.
