Help Honor Karen & Richard's Memory

In Loving Memory Of Karen & Richard Parramore.

I’m Megan. I’m the granddaughter to Karen & Rick. My family & I hate asking for help, but help is much needed in this time.

Karen & Rick were married for 36 years. They were parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, & amazing friends. Karen has 1 son who is deaf & a daughter that is deceased. Richard has 1 son. Karen & Richard have 5 grand children & 3 great grand children. Richard also served 15 years in the US Air Force followed by multiple years in law enforcement once he got out of the service by honorable discharge.

On Nov 20th, Karen went in for heart valve replacement surgery. She ended up staying 9 days after surgery due to complications. On Nov 29th, she was released only to come home & find her husband Richard unresponsive on the floor with blood everywhere. Later that night, Richard had emergency brain surgery and was placed on life support. With only being on life support for less than 48 hrs, we got a call from palliative care stating we should start thinking if we wanted to do permanent life measures to keep him alive with machines. That is not the life Richard would want. On Dec 2nd, I had to take Karen back to the ER; she wasn't feeling herself. We found out she had gone back into Afib, had very low blood pressure, and needed an emergency pericardiocentesis (remove fluid from around her heart). I gave the doctors the okay to perform the procedure. At this point, Karen was coherent and wanted to be transferred to Broward General where her original surgery was done. Right before transport happened, her heart stopped. CPR was performed. While CPR was happening, she was taken to surgery where they removed 2,000 mls of fluids from around the heart. After being in surgery for 1 hr, the doctors walked in to tell me my grandmother, my best friend, was gone at 3:16 pm. I never imagined leaving the hospital without her. On Dec 9th, I had to meet with hospice care for Richard. Richard was moved to hospice care on Dec 10th at 4 pm. Within 24 hrs, he also passed away at 3:49 pm. Losing my 2 best friends at the same hospital within 10 days apart has been the roughest.

The 2 of them passing was something we were not expecting nor did they expect especially the way it happened. Things were talked about if god forbid something like this was to happen but never finalized.

My family knows with the holidays being here it may be hard for people to help, but anything & everything is appreciated. These funds are to help pay for a memorial service, cremation, flowers & lawyer fees.

Please consider sharing this with others who may like to help.

With Love,
Tim, Megan, Tyler, Justin & Daniel.
