Help Honor Luca and his Bravery in Fighting Cancer
Donation protected
Our son Luca was an 8-year-old warrior fighting a very aggressive and resistant type of Cancer (Rhabdomyosarcoma) in a very rare location (it started as a polyp in his nose cavity when he had just turned 6 years old).
This week, Luca made his passage to be at peace with God in Heaven. ✨✨
Luca fought bravely for 2 years. In the first year, the treatments seemed to be working, but during the maintenance phase, the Cancer came back more resistant and much more aggressive.
Luca loved numbers, so here are some numbers fighting this Cancer over the past 2 years: 2 surgeries; 5 different chemotherapy protocols (more than 170 infusions of chemotherapy medicines); 28 sessions of Protons Radiation Therapy; 3 months of daily oral chemotherapy; about 20 platelets/blood transfusions; another 25 sessions of Photons Radiation Therapy; lots of electrolytes transfusions; lots of supporting medicines…
Combined with a very healthy diet and trying to keep life as normal as possible, with as much joy as possible, to keep him in good spirits.
Luca was very strong, he handled the treatments well, of course we had bad days, but from what was expected he was doing well overall. His doctors always said that looking at him and looking at the scans, it didn’t seem it was from the same person. He was fighting this thing hard, very hard.
Luca truly fought like a grown-up, we can’t forget him staying alone in a Radiation room, awake, with a mask covering his face and tied to the stretcher, at just the age of 6 years old… many adults cannot do that.
Unfortunately, besides all of those efforts and treatments, sadly we couldn’t win this Cancer, which got even more aggressive in the past month. We tried everything.
So we are creating this GoFundMe to help raise funds to donate 100% to Kids' cancer scientific research projects. Maybe we can help scientists and doctors find a cure for this so that in the future, kids like Luca have a chance to grow up and live their lives to the fullest.
Our good-hearted boy didn’t have this chance. Luca was looking forward to being on the Lego Robotics team when he got to Middle School, and he wanted to be a Computer or Space Engineer when he grew up. And a Dad… Luca always said he wanted to be a Dad in the future… It breaks our hearts to realize he won't be able to live all of this.
Luca was so sweet, loving, and calm but very determined about what he wanted. He loved a math challenge, was smart and curious about everything, loved reading, loved his little brother so much, and loved spending time with family and friends. Oh, and of course, Luca loved his Legos, Pokémons, and video games!
We are already missing him so much, the pain is unbearable, we are devastated. And we wouldn’t want any other family to go through this.
Please help us in this fight against Cancer!
We thank our family and friends for all the support, love, thoughts, and prayers throughout this journey.
We thank you from the bottom of our hearts! ✨✨
