Help Honor Maria Barranco's Memory

The Perez family is reaching out to those who have asked for ways to help our family in a time of grief and need.

Our beloved mom, Maria Guadalupe Barranco, passed away suddenly on August 7, 2024, she was laid to rest in Sacramento, where she lived for the last 30 years. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She left behind her husband Felix of 34 years and three children, Betzaida, Jonathan, and Fernando, as well as her three grandkids, Diego, Teddy, and Dario. She was a central pillar of our extended family and the community. Maria or “Lupe” as many people called her, touched the lives of many who were lucky enough to meet her. She loved to laugh, dance, and make connections. She meant the world to many of us and had more friends and acquaintances than she could count. Lupe impacted many people so deeply in her accomplished life.

She became a teacher at the age of 18 and taught hundreds of students throughout her 12-year teaching career. Many of her students and colleagues still have beautiful stories and memories of her. She helped raise her five younger siblings and looked after them as best she could. Maria sacrificed her career, her friends and family, and everything she knew in her country to provide a better future for her family. In the United States, she worked many years in the food industry with her own food truck, later as a loving nanny and then as a caring housekeeper. She always gave the best of her at work, at home, and with her friends and family. Even in her last moments, she truly cared for people and was a kind soul to everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

Our family has suffered immensely both emotionally and financially since the unexpected tragedy of her passing, between receiving a diagnosis of stage 4 pancreatic cancer and losing her only a couple of months later.

We plan to use all funds to help pay the funeral costs and an outstanding headstone for her grave. Our family would appreciate all the help we can receive to honor her life, and we thank our friends and family who have already reached out to support us during this time.
