Honor and Memorialize Marla June Eason

Marla passed away unexpectedly on February 1, 2019, in Evanston. A long time resident of Evanston, she leaves behind her only daughter, Patrice Eason, as well as her mother, Ella Jean Eason, and her siblings Sheryl, Ed Jr. (Joyce), Rhonda, and Steve (Arlene). She joins her father Edward Sr. in eternal life. 


Marla will be missed for her warm spirit. She had an immense love for music, R&B and Soul, and had a vast record collection that proved it. A single mom, she was a strong woman with a competitive spirit, always looking to win at games played with family on holidays (which wouldn’t be complete without her 7 layer salad!) Her culinary talents were her gift to family as she always seemed to be the hub of connection, organizing family get togethers and cooking for everyone who came, especially her sisters! They were three peas in a pod and a strong force to be reckoned with when all together. These same culinary skills are ones that she passed down to her wonderful daughter, Patrice. Marla was a humble woman, someone who would do anything for anyone, always working to serve others and care for everyone in her life the way only a mom or auntie would know how.

It is this spirit we hope to honor in raising money for Marla’s family at the end of her life. Marla was recently laid off of work due to downsizing at her previous place of employment, leaving her without life insurance or financial assistance for her only daughter. 


Patrice has many of the same beautiful qualities as her mother- kind, thoughtful, generous, and strong. Through her 9 plus years at the Winnetka Community House, she has helped enrich countless families’ lives through her service and smile. She will deeply miss her mother, as they were soulmates and best friends in life.
