Dear Friends and Family,
It is with a heavy heart that I share the news of the sudden and unexpected passing of my beloved mother, Patricia "Patty" Young, who departed from this world on Saturday, June 8th. I found her in bed when I went in to check on her and despite attempting CPR, I was unable to revive her. Needless to say, her departure has left a profound void in my heart and my life.
My mother was an extraordinary woman whose kindness and generosity touched the lives of all who knew her. She possessed a heart of gold, always going above and beyond to ensure the happiness and well-being of others. She wouldn't hesitate to help someone in need or stand up for what is right. Thinking back on all the holidays growing up, when my sister and I were younger, and the time my mom would spend in the kitchen, tirelessly cooking gigantic meals because she extended loving invitations to anyone who needed a place to go. Whether they had no family or were just going to be alone for the day, my mom gave them a place and made them feel loved. Her compassion knew no bounds... I can't even count the number of times she made me stop the car so she could lend a helping hand to a stranger in need, or because she thought an older woman sitting at a bus stop needed a bottle of water. She is all the reason I am the kind and thoughtful person I am today.
My mom's love was endless! She embraced everyone she met with open arms and a smile. One quote she always said to my sister and me when we were kids, and then to each of her grandkids: "Smiles are free, so give them away and collect as many as you can!" Her playful spirit and mischievous energy made her a big kid at heart and helped her connect easily with children. Her greatest joy in life was her family; especially me, her daughter Kimmie, and her six grandchildren, whom she cherished dearly and loved more than anything else in the world. They were truly her whole heart and reason for being.
In the wake of this devastating loss, I am reaching out for your support to help me and my family honor my mother's memory with a loving farewell. My mom's passing has not only left us grieving but has also placed an unexpected financial burden upon us. I am out of work for the summer, and I had only just returned to work this past school year since being out for over a year and a half after battling and recovering from COVID-19 and being on life support. Mike and I were just starting to get back on our feet when this tragedy struck.
As I struggle with the difficult task of preparing to bid farewell to my mom, I humbly ask for your assistance in alleviating the financial strain of arranging her funeral and memorial services. Any contribution, no matter how small, would be greatly appreciated and will go a very long way in ensuring that my mommy receives the dignified and heartfelt farewell she deserves.
Thank you for your love, support, and generosity during this extremely tough and challenging time. Please come together with me and my family to honor my mother's legacy of kindness, love, and selflessness.
With extremely heartfelt gratitude and love,
Robert Young
*The date services will be held is still to be determined but will be shared across social media. My sister, Mike, and I would love for all of you to attend if at all possible. Thanks again.
