Help Honor Randy Reed's Last Wishes
Donation protected
UPDATED….
Randy has passed on, just 25 days after being diagnosed. My heart is broken
there was no time to earn or raise the appropriate funds needed.
I have had to adjust the services to match what we could make happen. Although dad did not have a full visual, his family was able to say goodbye.
We will now be throwing a celebration of life. The funds that come from this will now help with that and ensure his last wish comes to life. The headstone dad imaged will be created and placed.
Original message…. My dad’s journey.
As many are aware, just after Father’s Day, my Father, Randy Reed, was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer that had metastasized. At the time it was discovered, it had spread to both lungs, ribs, lymph nodes, and his spinal cord. There was no option for treatment. At that time, he was given a timeline of 6 months. Although it wasn’t much, we were thankful to have the time to love on him and prepare. Unfortunately, that was not the case. Dad has begun to decline rapidly and hospice has advised that we may have 2 weeks to a month. Some days they are not even confident in 2 weeks.
Dad is fighting to hold on. He knows he was not financially prepared for this part. In 2008, he had an accident that caused a spinal cord injury and he couldn’t obtain life insurance. He was disabled and could not obtain employment that accommodated his disability. So his income came from SSI disability until recently when he hit retirement age. Dad was an over-the-road, long-haul trucker most of his life before his accident and never invested in a 401k, nor did he save much.
Dad’s time is limited and currently our family only has about half the funds of what a simple funeral with a viewing would cost. I couldn’t believe how outrageous funeral costs are! We’ve already purchased his burial plot and I can focus on a final headstone later. My goal is only to honor my dad’s final wishes to the best of my ability. With time running out, I’ve swallowed my pride and am reaching out for help. To anyone who can help with any amount they can. Every dollar counts. Or even if all you can do is simply share this with others.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
