Help Honor Ryan's Memory and Legacy

Donation protected

My name is Christa and I am the most awesome aunt to this sweet boy right here. This sweet young man was only 24 years old when his life was tragically taken from him. Ryan was incarcerated in the GA department of corrections serving time for a crime he actually didn't commit. Sadly he was in the vehicle of associates not even friends, they were giving him a ride to his girlfriends house. In the state of Georgia, to be an accessory to a crime you only have to be in a vehicle or associated with the ones who actually committed the crime to be prosecuted. Sadly Ryan was caught up in a mess but he was the most loving and genuine soul. He never allowed anything negative to be spoken on his calls or videos to family. We never knew how bad he was suffering until it was over. Ryan developed Diabetes and Hepatitis c in prison. This resulted in an ongoing situation with negligence of basic medical care. He was denied basic rights any human deserves. On July 4th 2024 he was taken from us suddenly. He had been so neglected in state care that his bowels had died. The Drs let us know that this was an unnecessary and avoidable circumstance. This young boy should have never been like this to begin with. This was 100% the results of not administering the proper and timely insulin therefore resulting in his dead bowel and ketoacidosis which lead to his death. He's been battling this with 3 different prisons. Instead of helping him they transferred him one to the next. The last transfer trip he was completely lethargic and unable to walk. Prior to this he was so gravely sick for 2 weeks in excruciating pain throwing up so badly that inmates were begging them to help him. He should have never been transferred in this position. His mother Jennifer Willis was only allotted a 3 hour visit with him the day before he passed with guards and warden breathing over her. We understand protocol, we understand and respect rules. We are law abiding citizens. It didn't matter, they wouldn't tell his own mother anything about him or his situation. It took us a week to find out he was in the hospital. The Dr was very stern and urgent in telling Jennifer to get there July 3rd that very night. She wasn't allowed to see him until the next morning. The warden made it very very clear that she's only allowed 1 hour in there, almost as if she was rewarding her to see her son dying. He went in a completely healthy boy. No medical conditions at all. These conditions were developed in prison. The problem began when he was denied the very minimal basic human rights. Incarcerated or not, as a human being no matter what who or what you've done in your life, you deserve basic rights. My nephew is gone forever and it was so fast. He doesn't get the life he deserved. He was going to be released in January 2026. The system is broken, I'm sure you hear that often. This system is not only broken but immoral and inhumane. Ryan isn't the only sad story unfortunately. This is happening across the entire State prisons of Georgia but also nationwide. Something has to change! Despite your views on criminals and prison, read up the statistics of wrongfully convicted people in this country. That means innocent human lives are being taken every single day from another mama, aunt, dad, brother, sister and even their children. Every single day in Georgia alone another life was lost in the GA department of corrections by the hands of negligence and cruelty. Animals are treated better in an abusive home than our incarcerated loved ones. Please hear my cry to you, I wasn't big on advocacy for things like this. I've always had a prejudice opinion on don't break laws to get incarcerated and you won't be in those situations. But please hear me and my heart, I had no idea what is really going on. I was so so wrong. I have lived with that regret and will continue to. Something has to change. They are throwing away our loved ones like garbage. This GoFundMe is set for 2 reasons, we can't afford to do anything for memorial and cremation for Ryan. And that's the bare minimum. He deserves so much more. And it's going towards the 1st steps towards change. We are 100% going to get these stories heard and start uncovering the dark evil behind these cell doors. What ever is left from the small memorial and cremation is going strictly towards attorneys and legal fees to fight for other families to not ever experience what we have and lose a son, nephew, daughter, mother ECT again to a senseless tragic death. No family should ever go through this ever. Please join us and help us be the change for millions others who are affected by the corrupt system. If you can't donate we understand that completely, please share Ryan's story to get his name out there. Share it out and help us reach as many as possible! Please join the fight with us! Everything helps and any amount or share is helping the fight. Thank you all so much and remember please any amount you can help with matters and makes a difference so please help us to get Ryan Willis his cremation and memorial. Sincerely a plea from his mother Jennifer Willis
