Help Honor Sarah Fitton's Memory
Donation protected
My name is Rhiannon and I have started this fundraiser to help pay for the cremation services of Sarah Fitton.
On May 6, 2016, we received an email from a worker at dcyf asking if we would be able to take two brothers who had just come into care. One of the boys was just about to turn 3 and the other was just a couple weeks old and still in the NICU getting ready to be discharged.
We said yes, and so began our journey with the amazing Fitton family. Through the next year and a half, we did not have a chance to get to know Sarah due to her struggles, but we did get to know her mother, Susan (who we ALL lovingly referred to as Grandma), and her 2 sisters, Samantha and Stephanie.
The love for her two boys, Matthew and Lee, was instantaneous! We knew the first goal was for them to reunify with their biological parent, but as time went on, it became known that adoption was probably going to need to happen. Sarah loved her boys enough to not make the process longer for them and told the court that she wanted us to adopt them.
On April 13, 2018, we adopted Matthew and Lee, and Grandma was there too!
A few years later, unfortunately, Samantha passed unexpectedly. We attended her service, and Sarah was there. We went over to her to formally introduce ourselves and give our condolences unsure of how she would react.... She turned around and immediately gave us each the biggest Fitton Hug! She told us how well she was doing, and she looked great too!
Because we knew how much love everyone in that family had for the boys, and even all of our other kids, we knew Sarah had to be the exact same way! We always wanted the best for her, and after that memorial service, we were so hopeful that in the future, we would be able to communicate with her more and more about her boys and grow a relationship from there. Unfortunately, with her personal struggles, we were not able to do that, but we also never gave up hope that it could still happen.
When we were told of her passing, we were devastated, for her family of course, but especially for these 2 boys. They know they were in foster care, that they are adopted, and that they came from a different Mommy than me. They also know they were loved by her.
We are putting this together because although we didn't know each other well, Sarah is the woman who gave life to two of the most important people in our lives, and with that, we wanted to try and give her what we can.
We are not able to cover the financial responsibilities it takes, so we are asking for any help you may be able to donate.
All the funds will go towards the services needed for this
