Two residential fires have destroyed all for two families extended families in Fiji.
On the 5th of September 2020, Sivaniolo and Lewa Banakobau's. family of 5 Adults and 3 children 9yrs, 7yrs and 2 yrs old in Nakorovou, Fiji; lost all they had in a fire which has left them homeless and without all their furniture and clothes. This was their family home which they shared with one adult child's family. With the effects of covid-19 on jobs, no social security or welfare in Fiji, this family is relying on the kindness of neighbors, friends and family and church members for shelter and basic needs.
On 9th September Joji Wainiqolo and Miliana Selei's family of 17 people lost their only home and all their belongings to a fire. The couple lived with their two married children and one other attending high school, with 10 grandchildren communally under one roof. Their house was burned together with all the possession they had in the house. This extended family is being sheltered at the Naboro SDA church Dorcas building. This family is also suffering from the economical effects of covid-19, there is no social security or welfare payments to help. Church members in Suva and Lami and family have been helping with basic needs at the extended family's temporary shelter in Naboro.
The aim of this fundraiser is to appeal to your compassion and kindness and raise as much as possible from Fiji residents abroad, and friends of Fiji, who have heard of the two families' misfortune with a target amount of AUD 10,000.00. This amount in no way would meet all that the two families will require to rebuild and for all their needs. Whatever is raised, will be divided into two between the two families to help them rebuild their homes and start all over again.
Hopefully the target amount could be reached by 30th November 2020.
