Who is Olha?
Olha is a Ukrainian single mother of 4 children, currently under Temporary Protection Status (TPS) in the United States, and has also applied for asylum.
How you can support Olha
Currently, the family is struggling to find affordable housing. For the past few months, they have been fortunate to have volunteers share space in their homes for their family of four. They have been bouncing from house to house, and now as they prepare to find independent housing, it has proven to be financially very challenging.
I am making this campaign in hopes of raising enough money to cover their first year of rent. I ask that you donate as much as you feel comfortable giving. Please know that they are entirely thankful for any amount, no matter how big or how small. Your donations will give Olha the financial support to get back on her feet.
Note: All funds will go directly to Olha's account
More about Olha
Olha is a hard working mother that has always put her children first. She was a successful language interpreter and tutor before the Russian attacks on Ukraine. It was a difficult choice for Olha to leave her home, but she knew she had to get her children to safety. They drove for days through multiple borders with only the bags on their backs to carry their belongings; not knowing where they would end up.
As you learn in the documentary film, Olha’s 11-year-old daughter Sofiia was stolen by her ex-husband. That’s why she was not able to join the family. With the loss of their home, community and daughter/sister (Sofiia), it has been a very difficult time for Olha and her family mentally and emotionally.
Who am I?
Hi, I’m May, a documentary filmmaker who met Olha(Olga) last year. Her story is one of resilience and courage. I have linked the documentary above if you would like to learn more about her journey.
