Help Howard return to Berklee College!

Let’s do it again, folks, and help my young friend Howard Godfrey continue attending Berklee College of Music!

 

Just one year ago, the Go Fund Me community raised $70,000, allowing Howard to attend his first year at this prestigious music school in Boston.

 

Howard excelled in his freshman year. He won a national songwriting contest in October 2021 and recorded a full-length musical soundtrack. His composition, “The Waltz of Adonis & Delilah,” was selected as 1 of 13 winners for The Musical Theater Songwriting Challenge, a competition by the National Endowment for the Arts & The American Theatre Wing… that's right, the folks who do the Tony Awards!

I am a super fan of Howard. When my family moved to Evanston several years ago, I noticed a tall slender young man who excelled in all things related to music and theater at Evanston Township High School and at The Musical Offering, an Evanston community music school. He is a good friend of my youngest daughter, and you can’t help but notice him, be impressed with his talents, and be touched by his kindness.

 

Music is Howard’s life’s passion. He sings, choreographs, composes, conducts, and plays many instruments, including but not limited to the piano, clarinet, flute, saxophone, violin, cello, bassoon & oboe. (You get the idea!) During his high school years, I saw him and his friends busking throughout Evanston, Illinois, and they donated all proceeds to a Chicago-based nonprofit, Assata’s Daughters.

 

Howard is back in the Chicagoland area for the summer, living with his three younger sisters and mom, who works full time. He is juggling various jobs to pay for tuition and living expenses for the upcoming 2022-2023 academic school year at Berklee. I hope the Go Fund Me community will continue to support Howard pursue his education in studying contemporary writing and production at Berklee College of Music.
