Help Hugo Fly to a Cure

Hi, my name is Meghan and I'm fundraising for the wonderful, funny, bright and beautiful Hugo Porcher.

Hugo is 9 years old and was rushed to the emergency room last month when a doctor's appointment for a seemingly small illness revealed that Hugo's platelet counts were perilously low. Hugo has been in MUSC Children's Hospital ever since, receiving transfusion after transfusion and undergoing a barrage of tests. Hugo has been diagnosed with aplastic anemia, which occurs when your bone marrow produces too few of all types of blood cells: red cells, white cells, and platelets. This is an extremely rare and life-threatening illness (there are fewer than 20,000 cases a year) and Hugo needs all the care he can receive in this critical moment.

The next step is to airlift Hugo to Dana-Farber/Boston Children's Hospital. There, he can begin receiving treatment, which can include continued transfusions, immunosuppressive therapy, and bone marrow transplants.
