Help Hugo's rebuild after the flood.

We started Hugo's Bar and Grill in the middle of the pandemic as a way to bring a historic building back and to fill a niche in Montpelier for a mid-priced restaurant with a focus on fresh fish, seafood, and bistro food. Since then, we have become one of the vital "third spaces" in town and also a vibrant music and arts venue that supports Vermont musicians.
Our restaurant abuts the north branch river. A major piece of our restaurant is in the basement, a classic grotto bar that has been a popular hangout long before Hugo's. It was completely underwater and wiped out. This flood devastated the restaurant, far more than we even expected. Walls will have to be torn down, floors replaced, and kitchen equipment replaced--in fact, an entire rebuild. It's not going to happen too fast, and meanwhile, there are still bills to be paid.
We ask for your help in bringing Hugo's back. When you support Hugo's, you support an entire ecosystem--local farms, fishmongers, Vermont musicians, and local employees. We don't know fully yet what shape it will take, but we are determined to bring this restaurant back. We owe it to the community, to our 35 employees, our customers and our vendors. It is in that spirit, that we humbly ask for your support.
