Help Hunter Thompson in his MS journey

Donation protected
On News Years Day 2023, Hunter woke up without vision in his right eye. This was alarming and unusual. Though Hunter is an active guy, he hadn't taken any spills or injured his eye. He had however been experiencing migraines lately. Hunter’s wife Tori took Hunter to the ER, hoping for the best. Luckily, they found no damage to his eye, no tumors, no sign of a stroke and normal blood work. His medical team sensed something was not right neurologically, and Hunter was referred to a neurology and ophthalmology specialist at OHSU in Portland.

For a week, Hunter underwent several MRI’s and a spinal tap, which showed lesions on parts of Hunter's brain and spinal cord, and inflammation to the ocular nerve called Ocular Neuritis. Amongst those findings, and the results from a few other lab results led his neurology team to determine that Hunter has a form of MS (Multiple Sclerosis), and autoimmune disease, specifically Relapsing-Remitting MS (RRMS). Relapsing remitting MS is a type where you have relapses (symptoms getting worse) followed by recovery (that's when it's “remitting”). MS effects the central nervous system (the brain and the spinal chord), disrupting the brain’s ability to initiate electric impulses that send messages to the rest of the body.

Hunter has quite the journey ahead. Only time will tell how MS will affect him, but we are hopeful and optimistic that he will continue to have a stellar quality of life! You all know what a bright light Hunter is, and you better believe he was shining that light of his through the thick of this!! He and Tori have been keeping their spirits high and have been positive and optimistic through it all. Hunter shows up for everyone in his life. Friends and family lean upon him for help and support and now it’s time to show up for Hunter and support him. He has quite the diagnosis and he will need consistent treatments in the form of IV infusions on a regular basis to help him move forward and support his health. Hunter’s vision has seen small improvement in his vision, but has a long way to go.

Unfortunately, his insurance has not guaranteed coverage for his medication, and it's time to ask his community of family and friends to help support. Hunter and Tori need financial help to carry them along and pay for the much needed treatments.

We all love Hunter so much and want nothing more than to see him healthy. If you can give to his fund, please do. And please spread this cause as far and wide as you can.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
