Help Millie Get Healthy
Donation protected
My name is Amy Vaughn, and I live in Saraland, Alabama. If you know me, you know that I have always had a heart for animals. I have two huskies, Maverick and Mila, so I have an especially soft spot for that breed.
I recently learned through a local lost/found pets Facebook group that a husky was found in pretty bad shape. She was emaciated, she had a broken dewclaw, and it was obvious that she had had a litter of puppies recently. She wandered up to a business in Mobile, where she was taken in for the day while one of the employees attempted to find her owner. A sweet couple then kept her for the weekend, took her to the vet to check for a microchip (there wasn’t one) and to get her up to date on her vaccines, and learned that unfortunately, she is heartworm positive. I have now taken over her care and will be starting the long and expensive process of heartworm treatment soon. She will also need to be spayed, and her dewclaw will have to be removed.
So far, nobody has stepped up to claim her. All of these things together are going to be pretty expensive, and I want to do everything I can to ensure that this dog gets the care that she deserves & can live a happy, healthy life. However, I’m not really in a place right now where I can just dish out $1,200, so here I am. I’ve created this GoFundMe specifically for her vet bills. Any and all proceeds will go directly to her care.
She is being treated at Barr Skyline Vet Hospital in Mobile, Alabama. You can call them at [phone redacted] if you’d like to donate to them directly - the account is under my name (Amy Vaughn) and her name is Millie.
Please consider donating to help this sweet baby out - anything helps!
Feel free to message me with any questions or concerns.
I will update periodically with her progress ❤️
UPDATE 1 (1/17/22): The lady that found him has graciously offered to cover her first round of heartworm treatment, so I have updated the total amount requested to reflect the new amount needed
UPDATE 2 (1/18/22): $300 total is being put on her account at Barr Skyline Vet Hospital to cover her first round of treatment. I’ve also received $90 in donations through Venmo. I’ve changed the total to reflect the new amount needed after those donations.
UPDATE 3 (1/20/22): I’ve decided to name her Millie, as she was found on Halls Mill Road. Her first round of heartworm treatment is scheduled for 1/24, and she is getting spayed on 2/2.
UPDATE 4 (2/5/22): Millie received her first round of heartworm treatment last week, and was spayed this past week. She did well with both and is recovering well now. Thank you SO MUCH to everyone who has donated!!! It means the world and I am so grateful for every one of you ❤️
UPDATE 5 (2/23/22): Millie just received her second round of heartworm treatment and everything is going according to plan!
