Hyrum Meldrum’s Cancer Support Fund
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Ashley Meldrum Lundgreen, I am Hyrum’s sister, and he is one of my best friends. My brother has been diagnosed with alveolar rhabdo myosarcoma cancer. We learned this week this is a rare and aggressive type of cancer, that has spread throughout his lungs, bones & lymphatic system. We know this will be a long difficult road ahead but our goal is to help him fight this and get through this journey. With this process, we understand this can be a financial burden to handle gas, groceries, medical bills, and the high chance of Hyrum not being able to work or support himself, which is why we’ve created this gofundme in support of Hyrum.
Heres the update my mom shared on Facebook for Hyrum:
“Hola friends and family,
Hyrum made it home safely from his mission in Argentina for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Monday Nov. 14 to Salt Lake City after traveling first class with Doctor Kellis, the mission doctor. His 2 year mission would have been complete in 40 days but he came home early because of medical conditions.
We are so happy he is home! He is such a calm, wonderful, pleasant son, brother, and friend. We will post online how his health is doing once or twice a week so we can focus on helping him and our little family.
He had a cough and some back pain the last few months but didn’t think much of it. He hurt his back playing soccer a couple months ago. Although he was in pain he went to church on Sunday, but Monday Nov. 7 he couldn’t get out of bed. President Demars, the Buenos Aires West Mission President got x-rays which didn’t give any answers. So the next day President Demars got an MRI which showed a grapefruit sized mass in Hyrum’s left lung and lesions on his spine which is most likely pointing to Lung Cancer. We are so grateful President & Sister Demars took such great care of Hyrum just like a Dad and mom would have done.
Hyrum arrived Nov. 17 and went straight from the airport to the U of U emergency room and a day later was admitted to the Huntsman cancer institute. After 36 hours Hyrums first food in America was watermelon sour patch candy and he loved it. Then he had a chicken finger and fries! Oh, how he missed American food!
So many people are praying for Hyrum. We appreciate it. Prayers are giving us miracles because he’s home, he’s getting great care, he’s calm and peaceful and his family is too.
We will update once or twice a week about his health. Please keep praying for Hyrum Meldrum as we work through this process together. As Hyrum would say Chao!”
Our family will continue to share updates on Facebook and here on Hyrum’s condition and what his upcoming journey will look like. He’s a strong man, with a positive attitude who loves his family and friends and the people he’s been able to serve. We would be so grateful if you would be willing to donate to Hyrums gofundme or his Venmo (@hyrummeldrum) in support of his highest quality of life as he moves through this Cancer journey.
