Help I-Ho fight brain cancer and go home to Korea
Donación protegida
I-Ho Pomeroy has shown up for and given back to the Bozeman community and beyond for decades. Now, I-Ho needs the support of her community.
On June 23rd, I-Ho underwent brain surgery to remove an aggressive glioblastoma tumor discovered there. As her team of medical professionals develop her treatment plan, a few things are certain:
- Our brilliant, kind, and spirited I-Ho is in for a fight for her life.
- Medical bills and other costs related to her treatment will start to pile up.
- I-Ho wishes to visit Korea, her home country, again.
You may know I-Ho from her delicious, nourishing food at I-Ho’s Korean Grill (Kimchi, in Montana?!). You may know I-Ho through her 10 years of dedication to and service on Bozeman City Commission. You may know I-Ho from her joyous faith and involvement with her church communities. You may know I-Ho from any of the numerous fundraisers she’s organized over the years that raised countless thousands of dollars for people in need locally and beyond. If you know I-Ho in any capacity, your life is brighter because of her. And if you haven’t yet had the opportunity to meet I-Ho, please join us in helping keep that a possibility for the future (and check out the links at the bottom for some highlights over the years).
With permission from the Pomeroy family, I’ve set up this GoFundMe to help alleviate some of the financial stress from I-Ho’s sudden diagnosis so that she and her family can focus on I-Ho’s recovery and wish to go back to Korea again. All money raised will go directly to I-Ho and her family for medical expenses, other costs related to her care (e.g., transportation, care support, etc.), and getting her to Korea. If there is leftover money, the Pomeroys will donate it to One Valley Community Foundation.
It is probably no surprise that I-Ho and her family are more comfortable being the helpers than accepting help. It took some convincing for the Pomeroys to be comfortable with me creating this GoFundMe page; my family and I insisted that people will want to show I-Ho support through this.
Your collective healing energy and prayers for I-Ho are also appreciated. Please also consider sharing this fundraiser with your network. Let’s make it loud and clear how the Bozeman community and beyond is here for I-Ho just as she has been here for us over the years. Please feel free to leave a comment with words of support for I-Ho and/or that shares a cherished memory you have of I-Ho and her impact on our community.
When there are I-Ho status updates that the family is comfortable sharing, I will post them on this page. Additionally, I will update the fundraising goal as expenses become clearer over time.
Other ways you can help
TBD once we know more about I-Ho’s treatment plan and needs.
