Help Imani Bashir support her family

Hello all. My name is Yolanda Evans and I created this GoFundMe on behalf of a fellow writer and international journalist, Imani Bashir. 


Imani was fired from Lifehacker as their first Travel Writer and only Black and Muslim employee. She was given notice at the end of the day on Friday July 17th without an offer of severance and continued benefits. 


Her Editor-in-chief, staff, and entire union have stood with her. You can take a look at the Union letter that was drafted immediately following her termination which will give you more information as to her unlawful dismissal from G/O Media.

I created this GoFundMe because Imani is not only the mother of a 3-year-old but also a continued support and advocate for other writers and creatives in this business. She has always lended support, shared others' work, offered resources and we cannot allow G/O Media to treat her this way. 


Please donate so that she may be able to continue to provide for her family because as a result of the pandemic her husband is not able to work and she was the sole financial provider for her family of 3. G/O Media also knew this!
