Help Our Immigrant Families Stay Safe
Donation protected
I can't believe that we have to do this again. In 2017, I started a "just in case" fundraiser for my immigrant friends. In the restaurant business you have a lot of them. I wasn't sure what we might have to do or how much money we would need. We got passports for children born here, paid legal fees, filed custody documents and helped people who had lost work with their rent. Ultimately, things worked out for everyone, so when the pandemic hit, with the permission of the donors, we used leftover funds to help people who had become unemployed.
Now, it's happened again. But this time seems more sinister. The other day, a friend of mine said that this election has made him feel the same way he did as he watched the second plane hit the World Trade Center.
So, we're starting again the same way. We don't know how much money we'll need nor what we may need to do. We've kept the children's passports up to date and the custody documents that we filed are still valid. Some of our kids are now over 18, as well. I want to make sure that the parents passports are current and that I have enough money to put everyone on planes. There may also be legal expenses, and people may lose work.
So, once again, I'm asking for your help. I promise to use the money honestly and as intended. I'll keep good records and report in from time to time, as before. Should there be any money left over, I'll distribute it among these families.
Thank you!, Thank you!, Thank you!
