Let's Help Improve Ning's Quality of Life

Our dear friends Eric and Ning Rasch were dealt a devastating blow when my best friend, Ning completely lost her vision in both eyes after she underwent back-to-back open-heart surgery in April 2022. They are some of the most amazing and generous people we have had the privilege of knowing and now their lives have been turned upside down. We are helping to raise funds on their behalf as they need our help now more than ever.

 

Ning has been fighting serious health issues for the greater part of 15 years now and has always been a fighter. On March 31, 2022, Ning underwent open-heart surgery to replace two damaged heart valves with mechanical ones. The following day, she had to undergo another surgery for pacemaker placement. Things were going well, or so we thought, but on April 13, 2022, a significant complication happened as she was recovering in the ICU. She woke up in total darkness. At some point, her optic nerves lost blood supply and completely lost vision in both eyes. The doctors said it is permanent and irreversible. The news has been nothing less than devastating for the Rasch Family. Ning was inconsolable for several days after realizing that she will no longer see her husband’s face or her two sons, her only daughter, and grandchild. She will no longer see the light of day, the world around her and will have to learn to live in complete darkness for the rest of her life.

 

On May 3, 2022, she was finally discharged home and faced more unanticipated lifestyle changes. While she will not be able to do many of the things she previously enjoyed, she is not ready yet to give up. Constant healthcare will be necessary in the first few months to assist Ning to adjust to a new lifestyle. Modifications to their house will also be necessary to be ADA compliant and allow Ning to safely navigate inside their house and allow her greater deal of independence. Many people have reached out to see what they can do and this is one way you can help. We are asking anyone that can afford to help out to donate to this fund in order to provide their family with some extra funds to help them deal with this extremely trying time.
