Help in David's Fight: Family Needs Support
Donation protected
Nothing can prepare you for the moment in time when you find out your 28-year-old brother, who is a father of four kids 10 & under, has cancer. It takes the air out of your lungs completely when you hear the news that it is stage four and he’ll be starting chemo treatments to try to slow the progression/spread.
David grew up here in Wyandotte where he graduated from Roosevelt High School in 2014. He was on the Varsity Wrestling team and sang in the RHS A Cappella Choir. Once out of high school, he worked odd jobs waiting for an opportunity to land a position with Ford Motor Company. Our family has a multi-generational connection to FMC and the UAW. David has been a card-carrying Union member since 2017.
In 2015, David reconnected with an old friend from high school, Jen. They began dating and were married in August of 2020. Their relationship blossomed into a beautiful blended family: Evalon (10), Jaxen (8), Harlynn (7), and Ayva (20 mo). If you wanted to see love personified: look no further than this family. I’m just lucky I get to be a witness to it (and an aunt to their kiddos).
David wears a bunch of different hats nowadays: Loving Husband, Doting Father, Cat-Dad, Union Worker, Assistant Coach of the Downriver Wrestling Club, Assistant T-Ball Coach, Cheer and Choir Dad, Jefferson WatchDOG, as well as the snot-nosed little brother he’s always been. Now we add a new hat: Cancer Fighter.
David hasn’t been able to work since January 23rd, 2024 and as of now, we don't know if/when he will be able to return to work. We have started the process of filing for medical leave but the bills are already starting to pile up. We need your help to take some of the stress off of David and Jen.
The first $2,000 we raise with this fundraiser will be used by David and Jen to help them get caught up on household bills and expenses. Everything from making a mortgage payment to groceries. After that, I would like to try and raise another $6,500. This is David’s maximum out of pocket cost under his health insurance. If we can raise this, David will have enough money to pay for any co-pays, deductibles, co-insurance, or medication costs that come up.
I know things are tight for most of us lately, but any donation will help ease the burden on two of the best people I know. If you cannot donate, please share this link with your network. There will also be other fundraising opportunities in the coming months.
Lastly, Thank you all, in advance, for your help. The support we’ve already felt over the last couple weeks has been incredible. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for showing up for our family.
