Hello, Namaste, and Vanakkam everyone! 


Hope you are all doing well and staying safe! My name is Varun Ramanan and I am a freshman at Academy of the Canyons Middle College High School, CA. I am very passionate when it comes to all aspects of art. But what’s art without a purpose? 


As India is fighting a devastating second wave of COVID-19, there is a need to fill some gaps in oxygen supply at hospitals and PPE kits, N-95 masks, and sanitizers for the exhausted healthcare heroes. To help India get the support it needs, I’m hosting a virtual talent show and fundraising event called Help India-19 to bring the community together through talent in support of a worthy cause.


This event will be hosted via YouTube on July 24th, 2021 from 5-7 pm. If you are interested in participating in this talent show, please read the information posted on the website - https://sites.google.com/view/helpindia-19/home. 


All the proceeds from this fundraising event will be donated to three different initiatives:


India COVID Response Fund (ICRF) 2.0 - I chose this initiative because the ICRF was set up to provide relief to the mammoth humanitarian crisis that unfolded when the pandemic first began and has been successfully raising funds for the most pressing needs caused by the present situation. Their Steering Committee and 16-member Advisory Board provide complete transparency in their mission to donate oxygen cylinders to charitable hospitals and COVID care centers, and protect healthcare workers by providing N-95 masks, PPE kits, bed sheets, and hand sanitizers. They also provide meals and ration kits to communities that are struggling to make ends meet.


Government of Tamil Nadu - Chief Minister’s Public Relief Fund - I chose this effort because most of my family are from Tamil Nadu making it very personal for me. This fund provides financial assistance to anyone in distress in the State of Tamil Nadu. 


Prime Minister's Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund (PM CARES) - I chose this effort because it is devoted to giving quality treatment for COVID-19 patients in India. This fund is an official fund from the Indian Government and ensures that all the money donated will be used for a good cause. This mission's initiative is to use the money generated to combat any emergency or distress situation that might be caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and provide relief to any person affected.
