help Indigenous women stay in school
Donation protected
Hi there,
Our names are Georgina McLeish and Maya Brady, and we are sacred heart college Geelong 2022 graduates.
We have attended quality education our whole lives. Yet, we’re very aware that some Australians cannot access the same education that we have been fortunate enough to have.
In indigenous communities, women and girls may use toilet paper, socks and rags instead of sanitary products. This is due to the fact that hygienic products are either unaffordable, shameful to purchase or unavailable in their area. A 2017 study conducted by the University of Queensland states that rural stores’ sanitary products cost $10 per packet!
As the women cannot access these products, they are forced to skip school, interrupting their ability to develop to their full academic potential.
We are conducting a fundraiser and donation box that we will be sending through the remote op shop project to Indigenous areas that are in need of menstruation products.
We would like to invite you to join us in making a difference by donating, big or small, in order to give young women equal opportunities to attend school and gain an education.
Thank you so much for your time and generosity.
