Hi, my name is Inkpa Mani (Javier Lara-Ruiz) . I am an indigenous community based artist and educator.
I was accepted to Yale, a dream that I have worked tirelessly towards.
Unfortunately, on my way to pick up artwork for a solo show, I was involved in a serious vehicle accident. My vehicle was hit on the side and flipped on a gravel road east of Wheaton, MN, leaving it completely totaled.
I have worked incredibly hard to overcome numerous challenges in my life to be where I am today. I have dedicated much of my time to helping others learn about arts and culture. The accident has greatly impacted my ability to continue my work and pursue my dreams.
I need my vehicle to:
• Continue creating and transporting my art
• Complete a large stone sculpture in Sisseton, South Dakota before the end of summer
• Travel to and attend Yale for graduate school in Connecticut.
Living in a very small town with few resources and options available, I am now falling behind on my bills because I don’t have a vehicle. Without it, I am unable to fulfill these commitments and take advantage of the opportunities I have worked hard at.
Why I Need Your Help: I am reaching out to my community, friends, and supporters for help. The costs associated with the accident, including replacing my vehicle and covering related expenses, are beyond my current financial means.
