Irma & Family In Need After House Fire
Donation protected
Dear Friends,
Last Thursday (11/30/23), the apartment where Irma Amaya and her family have lived for over 30 years had an electrical fire. She lost everything. The place is destroyed and is not livable. Her belongings, including the money she’d been saving, all burned in the fire. Now, Irma has no money and nowhere to live.
We met Irma Amaya 29 years ago when we hired her as our daughter’s nanny. Irma took care of our daughter, Emily, as if she was her own daughter. Irma continued to be part of our life, even after Emily started preschool (and no longer needed a nanny). For years, we stayed in touch with her and her family until she returned to us in 2022 to help take care of Jane. Irma was integral to Jane’s care, taking her to and from doctor appointments, cooking food, and helping to maintain the house. Now, she takes care of me four days a week.
We are asking any of you receiving this to help Irma and her husband, Morris, afford a new apartment.
Many of you know Irma. She spoke at the Memorial for Jane. She has been an honorary member of our family for nearly 30 years. If you don't know Irma, she's an incredibly hard-working, kind, and patient person. She has vastly improved our lives. Now, we're asking for your help to improve hers.
Thanks in advance to any of you who can donate to help Irma and her family.
Love,
