Help Ironton Rebuild
Donation protected
Ironton, Louisiana is one of the oldest, still standing African American communities located in Plaquemines Parish. This strong, tight knit community has faced challenges from the outside since it's founding after the Civil War. Recently the community was completely inundated by a tidal surge brought on by Hurricane Ida. 90% of the residents and their church were completely flooded out.
The residents now face the long road home of rebuilding. Federal assistance and insurance can take months and often do not cover everything that is needed. Residents have been displaced and are trying to figure out how to get close enough to their homes to be able to begin the work necessary to restore their community.
Please help with any donation that you can.
