Help Irwindale Cycles recover from a robbery
Donation protected
To the Southern California cycling community and beyond, a family-owned business out of Irwindale, CA needs our help.
Last week our good friends at Irwindale Cycles had 5 men break into their shop and rob approximately $40,000 worth of bikes & inventory overnight. Right now, they are at risk of having to shut their doors if they cannot re-coup some of their loss to make rent the next few months.
This isn't a corporation or franchise owned store... this is a family who has tirelessly spent years creating and supporting the cycling community we have come to know today in the San Gabriels. They aren't going to get by with an insurance payout so as friends of Walter & Norma, we made this GoFundMe page to help out with some of the financial burden they are about the face. $5, $10 to $100 or more... we as a community can give back to them what they have spent years giving to us... the joy and freedom of cycling!
Walter has been a mentor to us for years now, teaching myself and hundreds of others the art of bike riding. If you have a flat tire he's the first along with Norma to leave the shop and come rescue you. If you're having a rough time learning to ride Walter is the first to ground you back to basics and give you advice, just for the love of being a teacher.
This kind of loss to a family-owned shop is devastating. But even worse would be the loss of their store in the next few months.
I am a loyal customer of Walter and Norma who has informed them of this GoFundMe campaign that myself and other community members have put together. With Irwindale Cycles added as the beneficiary in this campaign your donation goes directly to the bike shop in paying rent. Any bit matters and anyone /everyone that knows them THANKS YOU!
In the next few weeks we will be organizing a group ride outside of their shop. Come meet the owners and see what this Irwindale crew is all about.
