Help Isaiah Battle AML Cancer and Keep His Dreams

Hello everyone,
My name is Buddy, and today I am reaching out to you with a story that is both heart-breaking and inspiring. It's about my friend, Isaiah Lucero, a 24-year-old security guard who has touched the lives of many, including mine, with his professionalism, humor, kindness and big smiles.
Isaiah is not just a security guard; he's a beacon of safety and a friend to all at our local bar, Perq's in Huntington Beach. He's someone who always puts others before himself, ensuring our nights out are safe and enjoyable. Beyond his role at Perq's, Isaiah is a devoted grandson living in Long Beach, caring for his grandmother—a cultural trait steeped in his Apache and Blackfoot heritage.
His life took an unexpected turn recently. What began as tooth and jaw pain, leading to the removal of wisdom teeth, escalated into something far more concerning. Despite appearing increasingly unwell, Isaiah, ever the tough guy, brushed it off as a cold and lingering tooth pain. However, the pain grew unbearable, and on November 19, 2023, Isaiah went to the ER, only to be dismissed with the assumption it was just an infection from his tooth.
But Isaiah's condition worsened rapidly, and he was rushed back to the hospital two days later. This time, the diagnosis was chilling: Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML), a type of cancer that rapidly progresses, affecting the blood and bone marrow. AML is characterized by an overproduction of immature white blood cells, crowding out normal cells and leading to symptoms like weakness, infections, and anemia.
Now, Isaiah is bravely facing a battle with AML, undergoing chemotherapy. This diagnosis has not only brought physical and emotional challenges but also financial strain. Isaiah's dream of becoming an armed security guard and starting his own security company now seems distant, as he focuses all his energy on this critical fight for his life. Isaiah has been in the hospital for over 30 days with no end in sight.
This is where we can all step in to help. We're setting up this GoFundMe to support Isaiah with his living and medical expenses during this challenging time. Your contribution can ease the financial burden on Isaiah and his family, allowing them to focus on what's most important – his treatment and recovery.
No amount is too small, and every donation brings Isaiah one step closer to overcoming this hurdle and pursuing his dreams. Let's show Isaiah the same support and care he has always shown to those around him. Together, we can make a difference in his life during this tough journey.
Thank you for taking the time to read Isaiah's story and for your generous support.
With gratitude,
Buddy Lee Brown
