Jabu Nala-Hartley was born and raised in apartheid South Africa, and has lived in Oxford since 1984. Jabu was raised by her mother who was the first General Secretary of the South African MAWU (a trade union which is now NUMSA).
Jabu resigned with others from Labour Party in October 2023. because of the leadership's refusal to support the call for a ceasefire, and their support for collective punishment. Jabu is proud to be part of the Oxford Socialist Independents in Oxford City.
