Help Jack, a 9 month old kitten, get well

Hello,

My name is Andrew Long, and I am raising money to help Jack, a little 9-month-old kitten, get well. Jack had a rough start to his life...I am not sure what happened, but our vet suspects that he lost his eye to feline chlamydia. He was living life as a stray begging for food out by where my wife and I live. We took to feeding him every day and came to realize that he was a super affectionate little boy. In addition to wanting food, he also wanted me to pet him and snuggle him. We had a major cold snap last week and I brought him inside so he wouldn't freeze to death, and that was when I realized that I wanted him to have the Christmas gift of a forever home with us.

I took him to the vet last week and his blood work done on him to make sure he didn't have feline leukemia or feline AIDS, and the vet also checked him for fleas, ear mites, and worms. Sadly, he also confirmed that Jack had no chance of keeping his eye, and gave him an antibiotic shot and a steroid shot, in addition to an antibiotic cream that we're putting in his eye socket twice daily.

Having an eye removed and having the socket closed off is a major, and expensive surgery. Our vet (Sandhills Vet clinic in Monahans, TX) is great and he is helping us out some on the cost, but the surgery for the eye, plus the neuter, plus the vet visit we had last week is going to come to a total cost of about $1100. This normally wouldn't be a problem for us, but I have been out of work due to an injury since September, and our funds are stretched about as thin as they can be right now.

I hate asking for help, but his life matters a lot to me and I want to give him his best chance at living pain-free. Anything you can donate would be greatly appreciated by both me and Jack. My hope is that I can get him into surgery as soon as possible so all his bad days can be behind him. No amount is too small to donate, and even if you cannot donate (which we understand) we would appreciate it if you could share this.
