Help Jack get to South Korea

I’m Jack and I’ve been fortunate enough to be picked to be part of the UK Contingent to go to South Korea in the summer of 2023 for the 25 World Scouting Jamboree. I have been selected as 1 of 72 scouts and explorers out of over 200 applicants to represent Wales at the world jamboree in SaeManGuem. The selection event put the potential unit members through several challenges to allow them to deliver their roar! There was a number of team building challenges to allow the selection team to see their skills, including communication, teamwork and leadership.

This is an amazing "once in a lifetime" opportunity and I cannot wait to get started!

Scouting is a huge part of my life, I have been in the scouting movement since the age of 6 when I became a Beaver and have followed my path through Cubs, Scouts and now an Explorer (I even volunteered with the local Cub pack for my Duke of Edinburgh) and am looking forward to carrying on my Scouting journey with this amazing trip to South Korea.

As part of my journey to the Jamboree I need to carry out a number of fundraising activities to raise around £4,000. The cost of participation for countries in the developed world is set higher than those in the developing countries to subsidise the attendance of scouts from poorer nations to enable all world wide to be able to be involved, so any contribution towards the fundraising will not only support me but also those in other poorer countries.

The money needed covers:

• Travel

• Accommodation

• Kit

• Training

I, along my my pack members have already made a start on planning fundraising efforts and have already made a start on planning fundraising efforts and have things planned for the coming months. I would appreciate a helping hand if you have a little spare to start me on my way.

In Summer 2023, more than 40,000 Scouts from all over the world will gather in Korea for the 25 World Scout Jamboree. The World Scout Jamboree (WSJ) is a World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) event, it happens every four years, each time hosted by a different country. We’re so proud that thousands of UK young people aged 14 to 17 and their leaders will in South Korea and we’ll call ourselves the UK Contingent.

Our Contingent are more than just travel buddies, they are planners, fundraisers, motivators and mentors. We’ve got a lot to achieve in a short time but we’ll leap at the challenge as we… Think big. Dream wild. Act Together

We dream about a sustainable world, where everyone’s welcome. But we’re not just about dreaming, Scouts want to see action too. Our UK Contingent won’t silently creep round global issues, we’ll be trailblazers for getting young voices heard…you’re gonna hear us roar.
