Help Jackie Marucci Through Her Cancer Treatment

For anyone that doesn’t know me, my name is Bryan Marucci, Jackie Marucci’s son.

As most of you know, my mom was recently diagnosed with a form of lung cancer. She has a large tumor on the lining of her lung causing her pain. To manage the pain, the oncologist prescribed her a steroid and pain meds, resulting in her not being able to work, or do much else. We are halfway through chemo (hopefully) and will see what the doctor orders after the 4th chemo treatment. If the tumor shrinks, chemo will stop. If the tumor is not touched, the doctor will order more treatments and possibly radiation.

We are currently waiting for health insurance and 2 financial assistance applications to be processed but of course the utility companies just want their money. For this reason, bills are starting to pile up. I’m not one to ask people for money unless I’m desperate and even though we’re not on the verge of being homeless or anything that bad, I don’t want to come close to that. That will just cause unnecessary stress on my mom and that’s the last thing she needs right now. Until the insurance comes through, we are left with paying out of pocket for doctor visits and medications. She was originally prescribed a long lasting pain killer but we had to have something else prescribed because without insurance it was $350 for a month supply. Once the financial assistance programs come through (as long as she is approved for them) we should get reimbursed for all out of pocket expenses.

We are hoping to be approved for emergency Medicaid which will wipe out the $100,000.00 hospital bill from when she was admitted and first diagnosed.
