Help Jacob Barr's Family with Memorial Expenses
Donation protected
Hey, this is Ryan Robinette, I'm helping set this up for the Barr Family, child hood friends with both Jarad and Jake, and I'd like to think I was like a second son to Mel & Dean.
Jarad has asked me to set this up and pass along the information below! As he's spending some time with family and processing everything still. Please feel free to leave any photos, comments, prayers or offers of support, they will see them! FIRST BELOW ARE DETAILS FOR CELEBRATION OF LIFE, THEN FOLLOWED BY FULL OBITUARY.
Jacob Dean Barr, age 37, of Senecaville, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on April 29, 2023 in the comfort of his home. Jacob was born April 29, 1986 in Marietta, Ohio. His parents, Dean and Melody Jacobs Barr, welcomed Jacob as their first child.
After the family moved from Cleveland, Ohio to Senecaville, Ohio in 1995, Jacob began making many friendships throughout childhood. He and his brother Jarad spent their time playing sports, riding bikes around Seneca Lake, and going fishing. A 2005 graduate of Meadowbrook High School, Jacob made many happy memories throughout the community as a leader and dedicated student athlete. Having participated in many sports including football, basketball, baseball, track and field, Jacob loved the competitive nature and team comradery.
In 2013, Jacob graduated from Ohio University with a Bachelor of Specialized Studies, specializing in Marketing and Sport Management. He and his brother shared many memories as roommates, including playing intramural basketball and exploring all of the bricks Athens has to offer. He was proud to be a Bobcat and loved the opportunity of meeting new people from all walks of life.
In his free time, Jacob enjoyed spending a lot of time with his father. Upon entering adulthood they began bonding beyond sports; playing pool, talking around bonfires, sharing their love for rock ‘n roll and classic rock, which eventually led to Dean teaching Jake how to play drums. Jake never stopped learning new skills and always wanted to experience all life had to offer.
Jacob spent several years living in Columbus, Ohio, working for IGS Energy in Dublin, Ohio. He lived a block away from his brother and sister-in-law, in the Grandview Heights community. They would spend their time playing basketball, watching sports, gathering with friends, and having home-cooked family dinners. Jacob never stopped meeting new people or sharing his compassion for those who had been knocked down by life.
In recent years, Jacob embraced the role of becoming a loving Uncle to his two nieces, Kennedy and Emersyn. He would always take the time to Facetime with them when he was away and never shied away from getting on the floor to play with them while together. They looked at him with pure joy.
His kind and gentle spirit left a mark on all of those he came across.
Jacob is predeceased by his grandparents, Granville “Jake” Jacobs and Saundra Jacobs Couch, Donald Edgar and Anna Louise Barr. He is survived by his parents Dean Leslie and Melody Jacobs Barr, brother Jarad Donald Barr, sister-in-law Shayla Nicole Barr, nieces Kennedy Grace Barr and Emersyn Shay Barr, along with his aunts, uncles, and cousins.
There will be a Celebration of Life on May 7, 2023 from 3:00pm - 5:00pm at the Senecaville Methodist Church in Senecaville, Ohio. A eulogy will be delivered at 3:10pm.
