Help Support Jacob’s Fight Against Stage 4 Glioblastoma

Dear friends, family, and compassionate strangers,

My names Sabrina, I created this GoFundMe on behalf of my brother Jacob and Sister in law Monica Leal.

On September 9th, our lives were turned upside down when we learned that my brother, Jacob, had been diagnosed with stage 4 glioblastoma. This aggressive tumor has changed everything for him and his family.

Initially, we were hopeful after surgery, as doctors reported that 80% of the tumor had been removed. However, we were devastated to discover that a second tumor was lurking, left unmentioned during our consultations. Glioblastoma is a rapid-growing tumor that requires immediate and intensive treatment, and unfortunately, the urgency we expected from his medical team was lacking.

Despite our constant follow-ups, referrals for radiation and chemotherapy were delayed. We were assured that Jacob was in good health and that he would begin treatment in late October. However, this was not appropriate care for a fast-growing tumor. As symptoms worsened, we rushed him to the hospital, where we were informed that he should have started radiation much sooner. The delay has caused the tumors to grow, and the pain he has endured due to this lack of care is unimaginable.

After seeking a second opinion at MD Anderson in Houston, we received the critical care Jacob desperately needed. They provided us with detailed scans and an urgent treatment plan. His radiation therapy begins this Thursday, and although we’re uncertain of what lies ahead, we are committed to ensuring Jacob receives the best possible care to improve his quality of life.

However, this journey comes with significant financial burdens. Jacob employment is on hold, and they will need a place to stay in Houston while he undergoes treatment. We are reaching out to you for support—every contribution, no matter how small, can make a difference in Jacob’s fight. Jacob is a devoted father, husband, grandfather, son, brother, and friend. He is known for his kindness and big heart, and he does not deserve this battle. Let’s rally together to support him during this incredibly challenging time.
