Help Jacob Get Back Surgery

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Amber Cogdill, from Round Rock Texas, and I am Jacob's wife. Many of you know Jake and the person he is but for those of you that don't, let me fill you in. Jake (33yo) is one of those people that when you meet him, you feel like you've known him forever. We always say he has never met a stranger because he can make a connection with anyone. Jacob is humble and kind, and would give the shirt off his back to someone in need ... no questions asked. He wears an infectious smile on his face 99% of the time no matter what he's going through personally. Jake is a father of two young boys (6 & 9) who share his same need for adventure. Living in Texas we are spoiled with a variety of options for activities. Whether it's hiking, kayaking, camping, playing disc golf, or going on a road trip .... our family is always up for an adventure.

Unfortunately, we have not been able to sustain the adventurous lifestyle we all love. A couple of years ago Jake injured his back. He got treatment, did physical therapy, and we thought things were okay. The summer of 2021 was when everything changed. While playing a friendly game of volleyball with the family, Jake went down. After an MRI it was determined that the disc Jake injured years before was severely herniated and that is what was causing so much pain. So with this news, we followed the doctor's orders and Jake went through physical therapy for 6 months. They did stretches, dry needling, light yoga, and lots of walking. Here and there he would feel relief but overall things were not getting better. When I tell you he was in constant pain, I am not exaggerating. The herniated/bulging disc was his L5/S1 and was pinching his sciatic nerve. This caused shooting pain on his right side that would go from his lower back down to his toes. He would try to get out of the car to stand and would just collapse because the pinched nerve caused numbness from his calf down. We would be just walking casually somewhere and the shooting pain would hit and paralyze him. He began to struggle with basic everyday movement and we knew something needed to change. We were referred to an orthopedic surgeon late last year and after another MRI he determined the only way to fix this, is surgery. So .... here we are. The surgery is called a microdiscectomy and the surgeon will go in and shave down/remove the pieces of this disc so it is no longer out of place or affecting Jake's nerve.

So, why have I told you all of this? Simply put, we need help to get the surgery done. I am offering custom door mats (sample pictures below) for any donation over $60. 100% of the funds raised will be used to cover the medical expenses we will encounter for this surgery, in addition to expenses related to Jacob's recovery. Anything helps and please know we are extremely thankful for all your support!

If you make an eligible donation ($60.00+) you will receive a code that can be used when ordering the mat, and it will zero out the cost while still allowing you to place your custom order. If you need your custom mat shipped, it will be up to you to cover the shipping cost. If you are not interested in ordering one of the custom doormats, please do not feel obligated. This is my way of giving back to those willing to help. If you do want to order a mat, you can click the link below and submit your desired design.

Please know we appreciate everyone's support and look forward to getting back to our family adventures after recovery. We love y'all ❤️!
